Central Park Cafe

Overview

Plymouth City Council’s Central Park Café is one of their flagship community projects. The cafe’s design features a green roof, inspired by the rolling hills in the surrounding landscape and utilises natural materials, helping it blend seamlessly with the park. The warm roof construction includes PIR insulation adhered to ALUTRIX® vapour barrier, capped with RESITRIX® SK W.

RESITRIX® is a root resistant, FLL certified waterproofing membrane, making it a great choice for any green roof. Sustainability was an important consideration for the Council. All of our EPDM flat roofing membranes have a 50 year+ life expectancy, are recyclable and produce very little waste which means they are amongst the most environmentally friendly flat roofing materials available.

Due to the projects ambitious timeline, multiple trades were required to work simultaneously. ALUTRIX® Vapour Barrier provides a temporary waterproofing for up to five weeks which allowed the interior sub-contractors to continue their work uninterrupted by any adverse weather conditions and ensured this exciting new facility was open for business on schedule!
