CARLISLE CM Europe, a leading waterproofing solutions provider for flat roofs and facades, is proud to sponsor the Higher Education Architect of the Year award at the 2023 Building Design Awards.

The Higher Education Architect of the Year award is a prestigious recognition of the outstanding work that architects are doing to create world-class learning environments. CARLISLE CM Europe is proud to support this award and to recognize the architects who are shaping the future of higher education.

This award is open to architects working on buildings in the higher education sector including universities, colleges, adult learning and teaching or training facilities – in the higher education sector. This can include further education colleges, technical colleges, post-18 community colleges and universities.

To participate in the competition, architects are required to submit at least one completed project between 1 December 2021 and 1 December 2022, along with a minimum of one additional project that may be either built or unbuilt. A total of no more than four projects can be submitted, and any additional built projects should have been completed within the past three years. It is permissible for one project to be international in scope.

The judges will evaluate each submission based on the overall design excellence and suitability for the intended purpose of the projects, rather than their size. The judges will consider the entire body of work, rather than any individual project in isolation.

The following architect practices are shortlisted for this year's award:

  • Atkins

  • Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios

  • Greenaway Architecture

  • HLM Architects

  • MCW Architects

  • R H Partnership Architects
